A TARNEIT man has been charged by police after he allegedly stole a gold bar from a shop in Melbourne.
The 24-year-old man is believed to have entered a business in Collins St just before 3pm and stole a one kilogram gold bar valued at $55,000.
A police spokesperson said they executed a warrant on another Collins St store and arrested a 51-year-old Richmond man before recovering the precious gold bar.
“The man from Richmond has been charged with handling stolen goods and other fraud related offences. He has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court in January 2012,” the spokesperson said.
“The Tarneit man appeared in an out of sessions hearing today (last Thursday) and was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.”
