A DERRIMUT company has been awarded $80,000 to purchase new machinery for quality control of herbs in the food production industry.
HJ Langdon and Co received the grant as part of a $3 million package designed to help companies across the state save money on production costs and create more local employment.
HJ Langdon processes herbs and spices for use by food manufacturers.
Louise Asher, Minister for Innovation, Services and Small Business, said the grants would deliver long-term economic benefits and employment growth.
“The new projects, supported under the Competitive Business Fund, represent almost $20 million of investment and are expected to deliver at least 340 new projects,” Ms Asher said.
Ms Asher said the grants were awarded to 17 companies across the state and would assist investment in new equipment, infrastructure, technology and product or process innovation and would lead to sustainable increase in business productivity, employment and export potential.
Western Metropolitan Region MP Andrew Elsbury said the grant would allow the Derrimut business to employ a further three people, improve quality and reduce costs.
