A PEDESTRIAN was left with a broken leg after she was hit by a car in a mysterious incident, which occurred on New Year’s Eve in St Albans.
Brimbank Highway Patrol Senior Constable Trent Hewet said the victim, aged in her late 20s, did not see the car when she attempted to cross Mulhall Drive at around 11.30pm. The vehicle, which was travelling towards St Albans Rd, hit the Northcote resident, breaking her leg.
“She landed on the road and the car stopped around 15 metres away,” Sen Const Hewet said.
An argument then allegedly broke out between the victim, her husband and a man and a woman from the car.
This resulted in the female running back to the car and driving away, leaving her male companion at the scene, where he remained until police arrived.
The man told police he did not know who the woman was and she gave him a lift after they met in the St Albans CBD.
The offending vehicle was described as a late 1980s or early 1990s red-coloured Ford Falcon, which would have received damage to the front passenger headlight area. The victim was taken by ambulance to the Western Health hospital in Footscray.
