Protest against units

BURNSIDE Heights residents are rallying to protest against a 31-unit development on Arbour Blvd.
More than 200 residents have pledged to object to the development at 93-97 Arbour Blvd, which was submitted to the Melton Shire Council planning department in December by ResCom.
Developers previously submitted an application for 19 double-storey and one single-storey dwelling at the address in February last year, but both council and Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) knocked it back on grounds it was an overdevelopment of the 3787 square metre site. Council received 71 objections to that application and resident Mark, who did not want his surname published, said more than 200 residents would object to the current application.
The new proposal would see five double-storey single-bedroom units and 26 triple-storey two-bedroom units built on site.
A letter to council from ResCom states that the new proposal has altered or removed pathways to provide greater areas for landscaping and greater separation between the units.
The letter also states there will be staggered setbacks to the three street frontages.
