POLICE were forced to use capsicum spray after confronting a drink-driver in Cairnlea last week.
Police observed a Ford sedan driving erratically on Furlong Rd at around 2.10am on Sunday 11 March.
Police intercepted the vehicle, which contained four men, at the driveway of a house in Eden Valley Rd and asked the driver for a breath test, which he refused.
The passengers of the vehicle approached police and became abusive and aggressive, while police arrested the driver for intoxication.
The passengers tried to pull the driver away from police custody and police used capsicum spray on the group.
During the altercation the driver managed to free himself and the group ran into the house.
They will be charged on summons for a number of offences including resisting arrest, refusing a breath test, drink driving and escaping from custody.
