Big bucks for black spots

THE GILLARD Government will spend $445,000 to fix dangerous roads in Brimbank.
Last week, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Anthony Albanese announced $225,000 would be spent on the intersection of Station and Oberon avenues in St Albans, while $220,000 will go towards the section of Cairnlea Dr from Stockton to Prospector drives at Cairnlea.
The St Albans project will provide for a roundabout, relocation of a pole and installation of street lighting, and in Carinlea the roundabouts will be modified and rubber kerbing, line marking and signage installed.
Maribyrnong MP Bill Shorten said 10 black spots had been fixed since 2007, with more than $1.6 million spent on the program in his electorate, while Gorton MP said $1.9 million had fixed six black spots in Gorton.
