THERE was double cause for celebration at the Delahey Tennis Club earlier this month after an excellent pennant season was capped off with two premiership wins.
The club’s women’s section two side, which included Melissa Esguerra, Viktorija Rajicic, Branka Potkonjak and Nadia Grlj, easily accounted for Caulfield Rec in the final. This has secured their promotion into section one for next season.
The men’s final was a slightly closer affair with Delahey and Royal Park tied on rubbers and sets at the conclusion of the matches with the result coming down to total games won.
However, Delahey’s Matthew Barrow, Andrej Lukic, Richard Esguerra, John Giakoumakis and Anthony Esguerra were crowned the champions after finishing five games ahead. 86874_01 Picture: DAMIAN VISENTINI
