KYLE Connolly loves performing and he can’t wait to get back on the stage.
This month the 15-year-old Taylors Hill resident will practice his skills when he joins the newly formed North by Northwest Drama Group.
The council organised group encourages young people aged 12-25 who live, study or work in the Melton area to get involved.
Kyle said he heard about the group on a visit to the Youth Centre in Taylors Hill and immediately knew he wanted to join.
“I like drama. It’s going to be an exciting new experience for me,” Kyle said.
Drama had become a hobby for Kyle after the Year 9 student gave it up this year for classes better suited to his interest in psychology.
But he has not lost the acting bug since his first performance in Year 7.
“I see it as a hobby now but if what I want to do as a profession falls through I might look at acting as a back-up plan.”
Kyle said he looks forward to taking on different personas and interesting characters.
“When your acting you get a whole other identity you have to be, it intrigues me because you have to be a completely different person.”
He also looks forward to meeting new people in the group and encouraged others to join.
The group will offer introductory workshops in performance skills including voice, movement, script work and storytelling and an introduction to the world of contemporary and classic theatre.
The free program will also include excursions to watch professional theatre productions.
The workshops will start on 18 October at the Taylors Hill Youth and Community Centre.
