SUE Kull is taking a step forward in the fight against cancer.
The Ardeer resident will join thousands of walkers when she takes part in the Cancer Council Relay for Life later this month.
Sue decided to sign up for the charity walk in Albert Park 10 years ago, and formed the team ‘Maggie Mae’ which she named after two close friends who had passed away from cancer.
The team has managed to raise more than $30,000 for cancer research since its inception in 2002, and will continue to show their support when they take part in Brimbank’s first Relay for Life event next weekend.
“This is the first Brimbank event and it’s so close to home so I am fully on board,” Sue said.
“It’s a great community event and it goes to show that the community can get together and fundraise for a worthy cause.”
Sue said there was still time to register for the relay and residents who aren’t able to form a group are welcome to join an existing team.
“I would love to encourage everyone to take part in a Relay for Life event and help raise money for the research and the support programs that the Cancer Council run,” she said.
“If they come down on the day they’ll be inspired to join us for sure. It’s a pretty awesome event.”
Brimbank Relay for Life will be held at the Kevin Flint Memorial Reserve in Cairnlea from 4pm on Saturday 27 October.
All funds raised will help the Cancer Council provide support services and resources for cancer patients and their families.
