PUPILS at Kings Park Primary School will soon be learning to speak Japanese alongside a resident of the country.Western metropolitan region MP Bernie Finn has announced the school will host a native Asian language assistant, whose salary will be paid by the State Government, for a year.
More than 60 schools across Victoria will take part in the program, which last week saw 22 languages assistants from China, 10 from France, seven from Germany, three from Japan, two from Spain and two from Indonesia arrive in Victoria.
“Language assistants provide hands-on support with pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary to both students and languages teachers,’’ Mr Finn said.
“‘The assistants also bring skills in information and communications technology, dance, drama, music and sport into their school communities, while learning from their experiences in their temporary home.”
