BRIMBANK residents Lee and Ursula Agius are empowering others and helping them look on the bright side of life.
The mother-and-daughter duo from Sunshine North have set up new spiritual healing space which offers residents the chance to face their problems and make a positive change.
Lee said her mother Ursula, who recently turned 66, decided to learn more about reiki and spiritual healing after the death of a close friend.
Reiki is a system of natural healing which works through the channelling of energy flow through the hands of the practitioner.
“I am trying to be very supportive of my mum because I know she is very passionate about what she does and really believes in it,” Lee said.
Lee works as a creative arts therapist and helps people who are suffering from mental health problems to express themselves.
“With creative arts therapy, the focus sometimes isn’t on what we say because it’s true that we can rationalise almost everything if we want to,” she said.
She uses the healing space to help her clients get in touch with their creative side and use art therapy to help them see more objectively.
“This is such a great space and there are not many of these places in the western suburbs where people can come and do a beginner’s meditation course, or have some sort of holistic counselling,” Lee said.
“It’s about being in a positive, nurturing space to help guide people and challenge their negative beliefs and move forward a bit more positively.
