Everything old is new again

A MOTHER-and-daughter team are bringing some vintage va-va voom to Keilor with their stylish new business.
Sarah and Jenny Chester started Vintage Mumma less than a year ago, after a lifetime of collecting vintage goods.
It was after planning Sarah’s wedding with the theme of ‘vintage romance’ that mother Jenny mentioned they should go into business together.
Their vintage event decoration and styling company, with goods available to hire and buy, is now going from strength to strength.
Jenny and Sarah ‘style’ events across Melbourne with themes including Endless Love, Rockabilly Swing and Retro Kitsch.
“It’s great to do something nice and fun, and enjoy people’s special day whether it’s a wedding, kitchen tea or hen’s event, there is always a happy vide around and we are always in a positive environment,” Sarah said.
“I guess what I enjoy the most is that we do get lots of special time to share together. We are very close as mother and daughter.
“Mum’s very crafty and I put together items and we make lots of trips around Victoria op-shops together.
“Everything we have is handmade or hand-picked recycled items.
“I work full-time as a make-up artist and Mum works part-time so it’s definitely a job we do every other night and on weekends, and it’s hard work but something we love to bits.”
Vintage Mumma also hires out lemonade stands and a kissing booth for events – which Jenny’s husband helped to construct.
“The business has actually turned dad, my younger brother and husband into vintage buyers as well,” Sarah said.
“They weren’t vintage lovers before but they are now. It’s definitely taken over, it’s infectious.”
