Man stabbed in Ardeer brawl

A MAN has been hospitalised after he was stabbed multiple times during a fight in Ardeer which involved up to 12 men.
Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the brawl to come forward, after the incident occurred on Monday 11 March at around 9.30pm.
Brimbank CIU Senior Sergeant Brad D’Elton said the fracas happened in Suspension St.
“There was allegedly a fight involving up to 10 to 12 males involving sharp weapons, we’re not sure what exactly,” he said.
After the fight, a 32-year-old male from St Albans was admitted to hospital with stab wounds to his head and hand.
Last Wednesday, Sen Sgt D’Elton said he believed the man was still in hospital – in a stable yet serious condition.
He had spoken briefly to the victim but was unable to interview him at length, due to his medical condition.
Sen Sgt D’Elton said the victim possibly knew his attackers.
“We believe they were perhaps known to each other,” he said.
“We’re not sure what type of weapons they used, whether that’s a knife or something else.”
Sen Sgt D’Elton said the man was taken to hospital in an ambulance after leaving Suspension St for another location.
“He’s gone from there to another address and people there have called police,” Sen Sgt D’Elton said.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said paramedics received a call at around 9.15pm last Monday, notifying them of an assault in Suspension St.
However, soon after they received a second call to say the ambulance was “no longer required”.
Half an hour later, an ambulance crew attended a house fire in Suspension St but a man, who suffered burns to his leg, declined treatment.
It is unclear whether the fight and fire incidents are related. Anyone who witnessed the fight can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
