A NEW domestic terminal facility, 17 new aircraft parking bays and dedicated ground transport facilities will soon be built at Melbourne Airport in Tullamarine.
Last week the Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Anthony Albanese, approved the airport’s major development plan for it Southern Precinct Program.
Up to 490 jobs will be created on site at any one time during the construction period and an additional 1450 ongoing jobs will be created following construction.
Melbourne Airport CEO, Chris Woodruff, said the southern precinct program was an exciting development.
“The projects, which are being driven by strong domestic passenger growth, will build on Melbourne Airport’s role as an employment centre, and will also provide the Victorian economy with a significant boost through the construction period and ongoing operation,” he said.
“We will look to finalise discussions with our airline customers with a view to the terminal being operational by mid-2015.”
