Explosive situation

A Brooklyn male has been remanded to re-appear at the Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on a number of charges including possessing explosives.
Detectives from the Hobsons Bay Crime Investigation Unit, along with members of the Bomb Response Unit, executed a warrant at a caravan park in Francis St, Brooklyn on 11 May.
The warrant followed the arrest of a 25-year-old male motorcyclist allegedly detected speeding on Millers Rd, Altona, on 10 May.
The Bomb Response Unit attended Millers Rd around 8pm after a suspect device was allegedly located in his backpack.
The entire intersection was evacuated and cordoned off until just after midnight to ensure the safety of the public.
A 25-year-old Brooklyn man was arrested at the scene and appeared before an out-of-sessions court hearing charged with speed dangerous, reckless conduct endangering life and possessing explosives.
He appeared at the Sunshine Magistrates’Court on Monday and was remanded to re-appear on 11 June.
