Fix the faulty sign, sir

A POLITICAN is driving a push to fix faulty signs on the CityLink Tullamarine tollway.
Yuroke MP Liz Beattie has called on the State Government to repair the electronic signs near the Pascoe Vale Rd exit.
“The CityLink sign installed in close proximity to the Pascoe Vale Road exit might as well not be there as it is rarely working,” she said.
“The faulty CityLink signage is repeatedly failing to indicate to motorists the estimated travel time to Footscray Rd, Kings Way and Toorak Rd.
“The most recent check of this inbound CityLink signage indicated that only half the sign was working.”
Ms Beattie said further information suggested that the outbound estimated travel indicator is also experiencing faults.
“Travelling by car on CityLink is one of the few travel alternatives for those residing in Melbourne’s north and west,” she said.
“Not only are my constituents subject to limited transport options, but the main route available is failing to provide them with the ability to plan and manage their travel.
Ms Beattie said fixing the sign would not “require a huge dollar investment”.
“I wrote to the Minister for Roads to seek a resolution of this issue,” she said.
“I do not want a letter back from the Minister for Roads saying, ‘I have received your letter’. Just fix the sign.”
Star contacted CityLink and the Roads Minister Terry Mulder’s media spokesperson but did not receive an official response by deadline.
