CITY West continued its impressive run in the Victorian Netball League last week, accounting for Boroondara Genesis by 15 goals.
After a tight first quarter the Falcons broke away, holding Genesis to just six goals in the second term while scoring 13 of their own.
The dominance continued after half-time with City West easily outscoring its opponent to secure the 55-40 win.
“I thought they had a good start,” Falcons coach Marg Lind said.
“We probably didn’t start as well as we have been in the last few weeks. Their pace is a little bit different to other teams. It probably took us a little while to adjust.
“Then I thought we settled in very nicely.”
Since a one-goal win against VU Western Lightning in round 11, City West has won its last four games by 10, 25, 15 and 15 goals respectively.
However, in scary news for rivals, Lind said her team wasn’t at its best yet.
“I think we have still got a fair bit of improvement actually,” she said.
“Our attitude has been better. We have been a lot more focused on taking each game on its merits and treating each team with respect for their specific differences. That has been a real positive.
“I think a couple of losses we had early in the season showed a few of our weaknesses and that is something we have really been working on.”
This week City West will take on competition strugglers US Ballarat Pride.
In other VNL results, Peninsula Waves got the better of VU Western Lightning by seven goals. Lightning fell nine goals behind in the first quarter and was unable to make up the deficit, succumbing to the 57-50 defeat.
After round 15, City West sit in second spot on the VNL ladder on 48 points while VU is one place back on 44 points.
There are three weeks remaining until finals.
