Chip gets Yanky home

A JOYFUL Brimbank pet owner was reunited with her dog last week after he went missing for seven months.
Brimbank City Councilanimal management officers said canine Yanky went missing in December last year.
It appeared Yanky was picked up by somebody who kept him at their own home in the meantime.
The council said Yanky must have escaped last week and was found by a woman, “who did the right thing” and contacted Brimbank City Council to collect him.
Yanky was able to be identified through his microchip, and was taken straight home “to a very tearful and happy reunion with his original owner”.
The council said this event showed the importance for dogs to be registered and micro-chipped.
The council also advised residents to keep personal details up-to-date for the micro-chip database and advise them of any change of details.
If you find a dog or cat, you must contact the council on 9249 4000 or info@brimbank.vic.gov.au or take it to your local vet so they can be scanned for a micro-chip and returned to their rightful owner.
