CLEO – previously named Tortie – is a very cute and lucky cat.
In June, she was featured in Star after being discovered living rough on the streets of Brimbank.
St Albans resident Liliana Iuri, who founded the Pet Neighbourhood Watch Action Group, said she discovered the eight-month-old cat abandoned with a kitten at a shopping centre in Keilor.
Ms Iuri said the cat, whom she dubbed Tortie, had obviusly been raised by humans due to her docile nature.
After Ms Iuri and Nathan Miles from the Western Suburbs Cat and Kitten Rescue Inc caught Tortie, Ms Iuri set about looking for her new home.
Ms Iuri said she was delighted when Brimbank resident Mellanie contacted her and expressed interest in adopting Tortie.
Mellanie has renamed the adorable feline ‘Cleo’, short for Cleopatra.
“She has been welcomed into a loving and safe home environment,” Ms Iuri said.
“Cleo is surrounded by toys, on a high quality diet and, most importantly, she will be kept indoors.”
Cleo is now even learning to go for walks on a kitty harness.
In 2011-2012, Brimbank City Council received more than 660 complaints about stray cats and impounded more than 1500 cats roaming the streets – many who were sadly euthansed.
