SUNSHINE Library has launched a new program for dads and their children. ‘Dad’s Storytime’ is a new program that invites dads to share a library experience with their children during a special 30-minute session. The sessions are dedicated to fathers and grandfathers and will include reading, singing and other engaging activities to allow father s and their children to connect through play. ‘Grab bags’ will also be available for loan, making it easier for busy dads to also spend quality reading time with their children. The new program has been designed to support ‘The Reading Hour’ project which asks families to share a book with their children for 10 minutes a day or one hour a week. The initiative aims to help children become better readers while also gaining the associated social and educational benefits. Dad’s Storytime sessions are free and all family members are welcome.
