THIS Thursday will open a new chapter for readers and writers as Brimbank officially launches the Brimbank Writers and Readers Festival. The festival will celebrate the love of reading and writing, the appreciation of literature and everything that complements the written and spoken word. Writers and readers alike can enjoy an array of free events over the week of 5 -16 September. Events will include workshops, readings, storytelling and the talks from professional writers. The opening event will be held this Thursday at the Visy Cares Hub Auditorium from 6.30pm. Special guest feature author and comedian Catherine Deveny, pictured, will open the event which will be complete with live music, food and drinks.
