MORE than 250 students from schools across Melbourne and Ballarat took part in an athletic competition in Keilor last Wednesday.
Pupils from the Overnewton Anglican Community College welcomed young people from 13 other schools to their campus for the All Stars Sports Carnival last week .
Six Melbourne schools, including Overnewton and Westbourne Grammar School in Truganina, competed in the competition against seven schools from the Ballarat area.
Students from the Melbourne schools combined on ‘All Stars’ teams to participate in activities including soccer, volley, netball, basketball and football.
More than 20 pupils from Overnewton went up against Ballarat students during the contest.
In addition to matches being staged at Overnewton, the Keilor Park Soccer Ground, Windy Hill and Essendon Hockey Ground also hosted some of the sports games.
The All Stars carnival ended with a lunch at Keilor for all the coaches and students.
Overnewton’s girls’ soccer coach, Nick Booth, said it was “an exciting experience” to take on the Ballarat Schools.
“The All Stars carnival provides those students who have excelled in their sport to compete against equally skilled students,” he said.
