SOARING singing sensation Jamie Willis has reigned victorious at the Best in the West singing competition held at WestWaters Hotel and Entertainment Complex over the weekend.
The 19 year old Deer Park resident proved she really was the best in the West, having already won other local singing competitions.
The modest rising star said she did not expect to win but was ecstatic with the results.
“The talent was so good, I did not expect myself to win,” Jamie said.
“It’s amazing, I couldn’t believe it,” she said.
“I’m so lucky.”
But it was a lot more than luck for Jamie who in July won Highpoint Shopping Centre’s annual Star Search competition.
The multi-talented singer, song writer and guitarist performed one of her original tracks at Saturday’s grand final of the Best in the West.
Jamie’s performance wowed the judges which included Australian musician Phil Ceberano, booking agent and band manager Keith Ridgeway, Deputy Mayor City of Melton Bob Turner and celebrity publicist Angela Ceberano.
The contest, which was open for singers, bands, entertainers, dancers, magicians and the sort, exhibited an array of local talent.

Jamie not only won the title of ‘Best of the West’ but she also scored a career kick-start package.
The prize included a styling session and photo shoot, an intensive mentoring session and a private session with a marketing and public relations expert who will help produce Jamie with an official biography, press release and industry advice.
Jamie hoped the prize would help her develop her stage presence.
“I really just want to work more on original music, find gigs, play my music more around the area and get recording,” she said.
“I also want to travel overseas and perform. That’s the ultimate goal.”
