PROPERTIES across the West were raided during a state-wide police operation targeting the Hells Angels outlaw motorcycle gang last Thursday.
Police executed search warrants in St Albans, Tullamarine, Brooklyn, Taylors Hill, Taylors Lakes, Braybrook, Tarneit and Newport.
More than 700 police were involved in the Victorian operation which netted firearms, drugs, cash, explosive material, stolen property and ammunition.
Thirteen people were arrested after clubhouses and private residences of Hells Angels members were raided.
The operation was the largest targeting on a single outlaw motorcycle gang in Victoria’s history.
Crime Command Acting Assistant Commissioner Tess Walsh said the operation was a “great result”.
“No one was injured and we’ve removed four firearms, a large amount of ammunition and other weapons including a sword and crossbow from people that have shown they have a blatant disregard for safety and the law,” she said.
“The community should be outraged and there should be no support for these groups or this kind of criminal activity.”
The Hells Angels are not the only outlaw motorcycle gang to have a presence in the West.
Three weeks ago, the Williamstown Comancheros chapter president Faafatia Faaloia arrived at the Royal Melbourne Hospital after he was shot in the back.
In May this year, police investigated after a fire began at a Melton property described as the clubhouse of the Satan’s Soldiers motorcycle gang.
