ADAM Borg has done it all at Albanvale Football Club. In over 10 years as a Cobra, Borg has been senior captain, coached the under-18s and coached the club’s reserve side.
So it is only natural that he has been announced as senior coach for next season.
He will partner John Thrush with the pair set to be co-coaches.
After a rich and impressive history with Albanvale, Borg is looking forward to getting stuck into the new role.
“I am pretty excited at the opportunity,” he said.
“It is a great honour and I am looking forward to co-coaching with John.
“We interviewed John and we thought it would be a great partnership for us to be able to lead Albanvale.”
The Cobras are coming off a disappointing Western Region Football League season after missing the division two finals.
However, with a host of impressive young players on the way through, Borg is confident of a return to form in 2014.
“We have been in pretty much a rebuilding stage but what has happened now is that we have got a lot of young talent. We know what areas we need to fix and we are trying to get back to where we were.
“Recruiting has always been a tough thing for us in the past but we have a lot of home grown talent now.”
Albanvale Football Club is also on the lookout for any potential players or sponsors for the new season.
Anyone interested is encouraged to contact the club via its website and Facebook page.
With pre-season training just around the corner, Borg is already targeting a return to finals for his first season in charge.
“We definitely want to get back to finals where we belong,” he said.
“The club went through 15 years straight of making finals and missed out the last two years. We are hungry to get back and bring back the Albanvale of old.
“It is all about wanting to be back playing four quarters of good football and making finals again. That is our number one goal.”
