AN INTERNATIONAL company has invested $150 million to set up in Deer Park.
Digital Realty will formally opened its new data centre in Radnor Dve this Thursday in a ceremony attended by CEO Mike Foust and the state Minister for Technology Gordon Rich-Phillips.
A spokesperson said Digital Realty’s $150 million investment in Victoria was expected to create more than 450 indirect jobs when fully operational.
“A ripple effect on regional businesses is expected to bring further benefits to Melbourne’s West,” she said.
Digital Realty was founded in 2004 and has its headquarters in San Francisco, California.
The business’ customers include domestic and international companies across multiple industry verticals ranging from ICT companies, cloud service providers, manufacturing and financial services.
Digital Realty’s new Tier III certified data centre in Deer Park, measuring 8690 square metres with four 1440 kW Turn-Key FlexSM data halls, is positioned next to an existing data centre the company constructed for NAB.
“Deer Park represented an ideal location for our data centres due not only to the availability of real estate, but also the infrastructure required to successfully operate a data centre facility,” the Digital Realty spokesperson said.
“We’re looking forward to partnering with new customers in Melbourne and providing them with world-class data centre facilities from which to run their IT.”
The Deer Park centres are Digital Realty’s first Victorian operations, with two branches of the company already established in New South Wales.
