ROBBERIES in Brimbank have jumped almost 25 per cent, according to the latest Victoria Police statistics.
But police have recorded reductions in several other offence categories.
Between 1 October 2012 and 30 September this year, there were more than 300 robberies perpetrated in Brimbank, compared to 247 in the previous 12 months.
The total crime rate rose by seven per cent in the municipality but property damage, residential burglaries, thefts from motor vehicles and thefts from cars all fell.
In addition, Brimbank drug offences rose by more than 15 per cent, reaching almost 1250 crimes compared to below 1080 in 2011-2012.
In the past year to September, crimes against the person in Brimbank increased five per cent to 2440 and crime against property went to more than 12,670 offences.
Assaults increased three per cent to more than 1800 individual attacks, but this count fell to just over 945 when family violence incidents were taken out of the equation.
