Master plan makeover

BRIMBANK City Council has recommended the draft Hampshire Rd Master Plan 2013 be put up for community consultation.
The plan has been prepared to guide the upgrade of the road, located in the Sunshine Town Centre.
The key directions of the plan are providing a strong identity and legible public realm, prioritising pedestrians, cyclists, public transport, safety, amenity and unique places.
Initial consultation on the plan started in March when residents, visitors and businesses suggested trees, landscaping, outdoor dining and seating, lighting and car parking to be among the most important issues on Hampshire Rd.
The draft plan aims to encourage walking and cycling, by providing dedicated facilities for the significant number of new residents and workers expected in Sunshine in the future.
The proposal includes a framework plan, master plan and precedent images help to illustrate what the proposed space might look like in the future.
Community consultation on the draft plan will commence in December with a series of sessions at the Sunshine Southern Village Pop-up Park in Hampshire Rd.
The draft master plan will be available for comment until the end of January 2014 while council will be consulting with residents, traders and key stakeholders over the period.
The draft will also be available online at brimbank.vic.gov.au and presentation materials can be inspected at the Sunshine Library.
