BRIMBANK is set for a busy year with a wider range of festivals and events to keep everyone entertained.
Over the coming year, Brimbank City Council will actively support more festivals and events than ever before.
Chair of administrators John Watson said the support was part of the council’s strong commitment to facilitating community celebrations.
“Brimbank is fortunate to have a wide range of dedicated community groups who put on some really fantastic events that draw our community together,” Mr Watson said.
Mr Watson said the council would be supporting and facilitating community groups to run their events across Brimbank in an attempt to build community capacity.
“In 2014 and onward the council will increasingly look to support community-based events to further enhance them rather than events just organised by the council itself,” he said.
Events on the calendar include a Swimming Carnival and Open Day in Sunshine organised by the Sunshine Swimming Club and the Macedonian Community Celebration of Brimbank in Keilor held by the Macedonian Senior Citizens Group of the West.
Both events are supported by a council community grant and will be held in February.
