WHILE the action may have been hot on Rod Laver Arena, there were also plenty of winners being hit at the Sunshine Park Tennis Club last month.
Sunshine Park hosted its annual Australia Day Community Event at the J.R. Parsons Reserve with huge crowds flocking to join in the fun.
As well as plenty of activities on the court, there was also a jumping castle, games zone, face painting and a cupcake competition.
To cap off the outstanding day of celebrations there was a fireworks display just after 9pm.
In total, 350 people attended the celebrations during the day while a staggering 500 were on hand for the night session.
Sunshine Park Tennis Club vice-president Tony Busuttil was rapt with the success of the event.
“Feedback from the community has, so far, been overwhelmingly positive and the club is excited to have provided the locals with both the opportunity to play tennis and attend a fun filled community event,” he said.
“The fireworks extravaganza was the perfect finale to a fun day and the cheering crowd were appreciative of the show in hope that it could be repeated in years to come.”
