BRIMBANK and Melton police officers were recognised for their services last week at a medal presentation and awards ceremony in Caroline Springs.
Superintendent Glenn Weir presented awards to 53 police members from the North West Metro Division 3, including the Brimbank and Melton Police Service Areas, at the ceremony at Caroline Springs police station on Thursday.
The presentation included the National Medal, awarded for 15 years’ service and the Victoria Police Service Medal and the National Police Service Medal, both awarded for diligent and ethical service.
Superintendent Weir said he was proud to present the awards to the officers.
“The police who have been honoured today have been recognised for their length of service, dedication and abilities,” Superintendent Weir said.
“The awards recognise the outstanding contribution and commitment of our local police members and community partners to keep the community safe,” he said.
The Humanitarian Overseas Service Medal was awarded to Leading Senior Constable Luke Bristow from Melton PSA and Detective Senior Constable Craig Mitchell from Brimbank PSA.
Both members were part of a Victoria Police contingent that was deployed to Christchurch in New Zealand following the devastating earthquake in February 2011 that killed 181 people.
Divisional commendations were also presented for exceptional service/performance.
Detective Sergeant Rob Henley from Melton PSA was recognised with a Divisional Commendation for his dedication to duty, planning and management of a significant multi-agency operation in relation to organised animal cruelty in Rockbank in September 2012.
Officers who served the community for 15 years up to 30 years, were presented with clasps and a 35 year service award was also presented at the ceremony.
