POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an assault on a St Albans teenager in the CBD earlier this month.
The 17-year-old stepped off a tram near the intersection of Swanston St and Lonsdale St at around 3.55pm on Tuesday 17 January when he was assaulted.
Melbourne CIU Detective Senior Constable Caitlin Ryan said police did not know how many people attacked the victim, who suffered serious facial fractures.
