THE Substation is going to party like its 1939.
Residents are invited to dress up and swing out for a fundraising ‘Swing Station – A Night of Hoppin’ Mad Jazz’.
The night will feature Melbourne’s premiere swing band, Steve Purcell’s Pearly Shells Swing Orchestra.
All proceeds raised will go towards creating a new theatre space at the venue.
The night will begin with a complimentary swing dance lesson, swing dance performances, Melbourne’s finest swing DJ’s, as well as a Fly Me To the Moon Cocktail Bar and Photographica Magnifica Photo Booth.
So dust off your vintage frock, suit up and step back in time to the golden age of jazz.
Famous for their swingin’ back beat sound, Hollywood style and luminescent clam-shell stands, The Pearly Shells Swing Orchestra will be playing their own arrangements of the Big Band classics and Pearly Shell originals to get everyone in the mood to try out their dancing shoes.
Swing Station – A Night of Hoppin’ Mad Jazz at The Substation will be held on Saturday 10 March from 7.30pm.
