DANCERS from across Brimbank were thrilled when they were treated to a surprise visit from a renowned American dancer Chelsea Traille earlier this month.
After having recently toured with legendary rap artist Kanye West, the former contestant of So You Think You Can Dance showed off her best moves at the Burnside dance studio and received rapturous applause from delighted dancers.
The inspired students even got a chance to question Ms Traille on her role in the hit musical Burlesque.
But the day wasn’t just about dancing. The group touched on serious issues including bullying at school, dealing with body issues and growing up in the cut-throat industry.
Owner of Dance Effects John Demicoli said the students almost couldn’t contain their excitement and were now motivated to strive even harder to reach their
dancing goals.
One student even promised not to wash her hair again after the dancer touched it.
“Greeted with a little wink and a pat on the head, I jumped for joy as I exclaimed, I will never wash my hair again,” Melissa Garlito, 17, said.
The Caroline Springs resident said she learned so much from the experience and was inspired by Traille’s knowledge, enthusiasm and bubbly personality.
Dance instructor and co-owner Rebecca Demicoli said the visit was inspirational and the talent the dancer exhibited was “out of this world”.
Ms Traille spent hours answering questions and delving into important issues with the young dancers.
