Brimbank brothel

BRIMBANK will receive its second legally-operating brothel after Brimbank City Council approved plans for a $200,000 facility in Sunshine North.
The two-storey brothel Club Temptations will open later this year and contain six rooms, a car park and storage area surrounded by 4.8 metre-high gates and access by secure intercom.
Plans seen by Star show a reception, offices, meeting room and dressing room on the ground-floor while the second storey will contain an open-plan lounge and six bedrooms.
The Davies St brothel is more than 350 metres from Brimbank’s only legally-operating brothel, Hot Gossip, which is located on Cromer Ave, and will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The council imposed 18 conditions on the permit including a requirement that no more than six sex workers on the property at any time and no drugs or alcohol can be stored or used on the premises.
Owner Mark Domaschenz said laws for brothels had become strict and that there was a rigorous process for new applications in order to avoid any illegal operations, including trafficking women.
“They do background checks on myself, managers… it’s quite difficult,” Mr Domaschenz said.
“If anyone has any criminal record they don’t want them, which is a good thing.”
He said his club would be a safe and clean environment that would provide a service for those who need it.
“You’d be surprised, it’s not always a sexual service. They (clients) might just be lonely or want to talk,” he said.
Council’s General Manager of City Development Stephen Sully said the re was no specific council policy restricting the number of brothels in Brimbank.
But Mr Sully said council made sure all applications met legislative requirements.
