A FIVE-year-old boy was killed following an accident at Altona Meadows last Saturday.
The accident occurred about 5.30pm when a neighbour’s car travelling slowly on Rosebery Street struck the boy who was rollerblading from the driveway on to the road.
The boy was treated at the scene then taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital where he died a short time later.
The neighbour who lives three doors down was the sole occupant of the car and was not injured in the collision.
Five officers from the Altona North Police and Hobsons Bay traffic management unit attended the scene.
Sergeant Graeme Lee said the neighbour lives three doors down and was travelling slowly.
He said the accident was a timely reminder that parents needed to closely supervise children playing with any type of wheeled toy.
The name of the dead boy has not been released at this stage.
