THE Duyfken docked at Workshops Jetty in Williamstown last week, one of many stops on her 12,000 kilometre odyssey from Fremantle to Sydney via Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Tasmania.
The ship is a painstaking recreation of the original Duyfken, the Dutch ship that carried the first Europeans to Australian shores in 1604.
The ship drew plenty of attention from maritime history buffs and curious locals alike.
They were keen to see first hand the kinds of vessels that Europeans used as they explored the great unknown world in search of trade and territory.
The Duyfken will remain at the Workshops Jetty until tomorrow, July 5.
She will then be navigated through the Port Phillip heads and cruise out of the bay, turn left, and sail non-stop to Brisbane.
