HOMELESS Victorians suffering the effects of this cold Melbourne winter will benefit from the 72nd annual Victorian Winter Blanket Appeal.
The Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) and Country Fire Authority hope to help collect 10,000 new blankets in the 2006 appeal.
Spotswood, Altona, Newport and Laverton fire stations, in Hobsons Bay, will collect blankets, beanies, scarves and gloves deposited in branded Victorian Winter Blanket Appeal donation bins.
Appeal organisers believe every night in Victoria there are 20,000 men, women and children considered homeless because they don’t have long-term accommodation or access to appropriate shelter.
