Tim plies his trade on TV

SEABROOK handyman Tim Dunlop is striving to achieve tradie immortality this summer in a TV show pitting tradesmen from all over Australia against each other.
Mr Dunlop stars in the Channel Nine series King Gee Jack of All Trades.
The show’s host, Luke Van Dyck, said the series promised to serve up some intense rivalry, drama and humour.
The series will be screened over summer during the Ashes cricket coverage.
Mr Dunlop secured a wildcard entry into the tournament, in which highly skilled elite tradesmen build the ultimate back yard shed, testing their skills in carpentry, painting, tiling, oxy cutting, flooring, cladding walls and hanging doors and windows.
Mr Dunlop, “a self-taught handyman”, said the competitors were seasoned veterans and winning would be the tradesman’s equivalent of an Olympic gold medal.
As well as showcasing the nation’s top tradies, Mr Dunlop said the show dispelled a few myths.
“It’s all about promoting the professionalism of tradies and showing what people are capable of,” he said.
“These guys are not yobbos, that’s just a stereotype.
“We are fit, we work out and take pride in our work.
“We like our beer, but we take this very seriously.”
Mr Dunlop’s first battle in the King Gee Jack of All Trades challenge is scheduled to screen at 10.30am on Saturday 2 December.
