ALTONA plastics maker Qenos has been named a finalist in the Savewater! Awards, which recognise achievement in water conservation.
Qenos recently replaced equipment and infrastructure at its plant, resulting in about 1.2 billion litres of water being saved, when compared with its 2002 consumption.
The company was nominated in the manufacturing category, which it won at the 2004 Savewater! Awards.
The award’s chief judge, weatherman Rob Gell, said judges were “impressed by the level of ingenuity” Qenos had applied to the task of reducing its water consumption.
The Savewater! Alliance, made up of metropolitan and regional water businesses from Victoria and New South Wales, hands out the awards.
The winners of the 2006/07 Savewater! Awards will be announced on 23 March.
