A MOVE to reduce the speed limit on Millers Rd was delayed to this week.
Hobsons Bay City Council and VicRoads was set to reduce the speed limit from 70km/h to 60km/h between Geelong Rd and the Kororoit Creek bridge last Wednesday, 21 September. The council put a statement on its website on Friday saying the limit was expected to be changed yesterday (Monday), 26 September.
Senior Constable David Fisher from Williamstown’s traffic management unit said users of the road would be given two weeks leniency to get them into the habit of driving at the reduced speed limit.
“Habits are a big thing to try and break,” he said.
“We will allow it to be changed for two to three weeks.
“We will get council to put counters down and if people haven’t slowed down it will be up to us to make them change their habits.”
