COMMUNITY input is being sought to determine the voting method for the 2008 council election.
The Hobsons Bay City Council has prepared information papers detailing the difference between attendance and postal voting, and the cost and effect the methods have had on previous elections.
An attendance election would cost about $257,000 to run, while a postal election would cost about $219,000.
“I encourage all residents to lodge a written submission with the council so that we can take the community’s needs into consideration when making our decision,” said mayor Leigh Hardinge.
The information papers can be found at the council’s website, www.hobsons.vic.gov.au. Submissions close on Friday 26 October.
