MOUNT St Joseph Girls’ College is inviting the public to tee at the Kooringal Golf Club in Altona on Wednesday 19 April.
The charity golf day is the last of three fundraising events organised by the school to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
“There’s the bike ride, the golf day and we had a charity trivia night a couple of weeks ago,” the school’s social justice coordinator, Andrew Starkie, said.
Two weeks ago, a group of 40 students and five teachers began their “ride for the kids” journey from Adelaide to Melbourne.
Mr Starkie expects the group to return in time for the golf charity day tee-off.
“They’ll be riding through the golf course about midday, just as the golfers are arriving,” he said.
So far, the school has managed to raise more than $30,000 – still short of its $50,000 target.
But Mr Starkie said it hoped to attract about 30 groups to take part and play the 18-hole course.
The golf day will culminate with a three-course meal and prizes.
The entry fee is $100 a person and participants can sign up on their own or as a group of four.
Bookings can be made through Julie Grant at Mount St Joseph Girls’ College on 83982000.
