HOBSONS Bay City Council has reopened the Esplanade following traffic works between McBain St and Bent St, Altona, designed to discourage “hoon” driving.
Hobsons Bay mayor Leigh Hardinge said the works were an essential part of discouraging “hoon” driving.
“These works will help to prevent hoons from speeding along the Esplanade opposite the Pier St and Logan Reserve precinct,” he said.
“They are similar to works undertaken in the Esplanade, Williamstown which have successfully reduced the problems of speeding and reckless driving.”
Cr Hardinge said improvements to road safety were a high priority for the council.
“Road safety improvements are of the utmost importance to the council,” he said.
