A GROUP of Hobsons Bay residents and traders has been selected to participate in a community leadership project.
The ‘Building Communities – A Leadership Journey’ project will see 25 residents and business people develop leadership skills and work on local environmental sustainability projects.
The project consists of five two-day training sessions, where participants will learn about leadership through discussions, presentations, painting and writing exercises.
The training would usually cost around $3000 and will be conducted by highly regarded leadership mentor Fabian Dattner.
Mayor Carl Marsich said participants would develop skills like strategic planning and team-work.
, changing and improving organisational structures and effective learning methods.
“The Building Communities project is an ideal way for people of all backgrounds to contribute to our community,” Cr Marsich said.
Participants are expected to graduate from the program in April 2007.
