Auskick a winner, too? You bet!

EASTERN suburbs MP Anna Burke has lost her bet to Gellibrand MP Nicola Roxon after the Williamstown Seagulls stormed home to record a 63-point win over the Box Hill Hawks last Saturday.
In keeping with a seven-year betting tradition, Ms Burke has kept this year’s promise, donating $100 to the Williamstown Auskick club – a sum that was later matched by Ms Roxon.
“Box Hill was doing all right for a while there,” Ms Burke said.
“The atmosphere was terrific.
“I was with my husband and kids and it was a really enjoyable day with some good footy that was played before us.
“Willi’s got this great community feel, it’s terrific, everybody knows everybody.
“I love the atmosphere, it’s a very lively crowd.
“It was a great game, I was just sorry that Willi won and Box Hill lost!” Ms Burke said.
Previous bets have involved the losing MP running a lap of Parliament House in the winning team’s guernsey, serving drinks in the opposition’s clubrooms and mowing the winning team’s oval.
