THE Bayside Festival will be held this weekend in Altona.
The event marks the festival’s 32nd year and promises plenty to see and do for the whole family.
The festival will start on Friday with storytelling for pre-schoolers. Then on Saturday Logan Reserve will be full of entertainment with a variety of bands performing.
There will also be street performers and a craft market. On Saturday night, entertainment will move to Cherry Lake, where Victoria Police rock band Code One will headline before a spectacular show of fireworks takes place.
On Sunday the grand street parade will start at 11am from the beach end of Pier St.
Floats from across the community, including Scouts Australia, local schools, surf life saving clubs and businesses, will decorate the streets of Queen, Pier, Civic and Fresno before stopping at Cherry Lake Reserve.
Best viewing of the parade will be from Pier St, between railway line and Civic Pde or the lawns of the 1st Altona Scout Hall in Civic Pde.
Over the weekend, people can also take a tour of Altona aboard a double-decker bus, where members from the Altona Laverton Historical Society will talk about the town’s historical hot spots.
