Travel and study meet

MANY young people have dreams to travel following their studies. Now they can do both.
Hobsons Bay mayor Michael Raffoul said the Hobsons Bay International Friendship Association has places available for its annual student exchange program.
“Hobsons Bay City Council has a sister city relationship with the City of Anjo, Japan, and we are happy to financially support the Hobsons Bay International Friendship Association with one of its core activities,” Cr Raffoul said.
Students aged between 14 and 17 who live in Hobsons Bay are eligible for the two-week student exchange in August.
“Successful applicants will be required to pay $1000 towards the cost of the program and be expected to have an ongoing commitment with the association,” Cr Raffoul said.
Applicants are not expected to speak, or be studying, Japanese.
“An opportunity to experience another culture is priceless and I would urge young people in Hobsons Bay to consider applying for the exchange,” Cr Raffoul said.
Applications close on 18 February.
To apply call Glenda Curtis on 9932 1000 or after hours on 9398 4805.
