The VLGA is a peak body made up of local government, community organisations and individuals who advocate for social change.
Cr Grigorovitch, who is the first Hobsons Bay Councillor to be elected to the board in more than 10 years, said she was proud of her successful nomination – a first for a female Hobsons Bay Councillors.
“Being elected to the board will allow me to be at the centre of the decision making process and I feel I can contribute to this and am quite excited at the prospect,” Cr Grigorovitch said.
Cr Grigorovitch said the role of the board was to encourage discussion and digest the views of all members and then act accordingly.
“I hope to ensure this happens and the aims and policy direction are followed, while being progressive and helping to strengthen and expand the VLGA as the representative of democracy in our communities.
“I look forward to building stronger networks, and looking out for the needs of the West, which unfortunately is often forgotten.”
Cr Grigorovitch was the only councillor elected from the West.
“One of my main roles will be to ensure the West gets a fair share of recognition and support from the VLGA when needed,” she said.
Six councillors and three community leaders were elected to the VLGA Board for a two-year term following the election on 10 February.
