TWO Hume City Falcons netballers will represent Victoria at the 21 and under nationals in Waverley on 13-17 July.
Kate Moloney and Demi Woodlock, both members of Hume City’s Division 1 team, have also been put on scholarships to Australian Netball League side Victorian Fury.
Marg Lind, head coach of the Altona-based Falcons, said both players had bright futures.
“Kate Moloney is very tenacious. She’s pretty much had a fantastic rise in the game over the past couple of years, she’s a really hard worker and has a massive heart,” Lind said. “Demi is a very athletic, rangy defender. “Both are very promising youngsters and they’d be two we’d be looking to potentially promote for next year.”
Lind, who has been blooding youngsters in the senior team, said she would like to give Moloney and Woodlock a chance to test themselves in the top division, but does not want to upset the balance of the division one team, given the tightness of the competition.
The team is sitting third on the ladder after defeating Yarra Valley Grammar Ariels 38-35 on Sunday and drawing 43-all against Peninsula Waves on Wednesday.
The championship team followed up its shock win against top team Genesis last week with a 54-37 win against Yarra Valley at Altona on Sunday and a 56-50 win against Peninsula Waves on Wednesday. The side sits in fifth place.
